MansA Magazine provides an editorial platform that engages directly with the artistic programming of MansA – Maison des Mondes Africains. This biannual journal brings together profiles, essays, and analyses to document the creative, aesthetic, and political dynamics shaping the African world. It spotlights those who are shaping contemporary cultural scenes and contributes to the construction of a critical narrative developed from within the African world itself, with contributors from all corners of the globe.
First edition – limited quantity · Founding issue
This first issue serves as an introduction: a journey through contemporary African imaginations. It opens with Guillaume Diop, principal dancer at the Paris Opera, whose presence on the cover embodies a dialogue between heritage, the body, and creation. Across 208 pages, artists, authors, and thinkers explore the connections between memory, the diaspora, and contemporary creation. Photography, dance, storytelling, and Afrofuturism come together to form a living archive. Part editorial manifesto, part printed publication, this issue reflects a commitment to documenting the present while envisioning possible futures, continuing the legacy of La Revue du Monde noir.
